WASHINGTON -The GW volleyball team wrapped a perfect weekend at home with a 3-1 win over La Salle on Saturday night at the Charles E. Smith Center.

Key Stats

  • GW swung above .300 in the match (.303) in a complete team effort that saw three players record double-figure kills and three players hit .300 or better.
  • Senior Kristel Moor was dominant to lead the Colonials. She totaled a match-high 20 kills against just three errors (.415) and added five block assists.
  • Junior Kelsey Clark put down 13 winners to go with six digs, four block assists and four service aces.
  • Senior Aaliya Davidson also had an efficient night, totaling 11 kills with only one error (.435). She added 13 digs for her second straight double-double.
  • Graduate student Stacey Benton facilitated the attack with 29 assists. She also finished with nine digs.
  • Freshman Sydney Welch followed her record-breaking performance on Friday with 16 digs on Saturday. For the weekend she totaled 50 digs for an average of 6.25 per set.
  • Junior Alexis Lete put down seven errorless kills (.538) along with three block assists and two digs. Sophomore Skylar Iott only committed one error in 15 swings while adding six kills and seven digs.

    How It Happened
    Set 1: GW 25, La Salle 15

  • GW started the match by swinging a blistering .394 (15k-2e-33a) in the opening frame.
  • Moor put down seven of her kills in the first set with just one attack error.
  • GW started the match on a 4-0 run and extended the lead to 11-4 after three straight aces by Clark and a kill from Moor.
  • The Colonials were never threatened and maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the first set.

    Set 2: GW 25, La Salle 23

  • The second set was much closer but GW prevailed after eight ties and two lead changes.
  • La Salle put down 14 errorless kills in the frame but still came out on the losing end.
  • The Explorers started on a 5-1 run but GW battled back to tie the match at 12-12 on a kill by Clark.
  • La Salle regained a two-point lead at 15-13 but three straight points put the Colonials on top, 16-15.
  • The teams traded the lead down the stretch before consecutive kills by Clark and sophomore Skylar Iott put GW ahead, 22-20, and forced a timeout.
  • The stoppage had little effect as the Colonials clinched the set on a kill by Davidson.

    Set 3: La Salle 25, GW 20

  • La Salle escaped a hard-fought third set with the win.
  • The Explorers led early by a score of 10-7 but GW rallied with five straight points to take a 12-10 lead.
  • La Salle answered with a 7-2 run to take a 17-14 lead and force a timeout.
  • GW kept it close but La Salle turned away a late rally to hold on for the win.

    Set 4: GW 25, La Salle 20

  • GW regained its composure in a match-clinching fourth-set win.
  • GW swung .293 in the final frame with 16 kills and four errors.
  • Davidson tallied five of her 11 kills to lead the Colonials.
  • GW broke a 12-12 tie with an 8-1 run to build a 20-13 lead and fought off a late La Salle surge to clinch the match.
