Volleyball Loses at Temple, 3-1

PHILADELPHIA, PA - In front of a record crowd at McGonigle Hall, the Temple Volleyball team defeated George Washington, 3-1, to secure their 14th straight win and remain unbeaten in conference play. The game scores were 23-30, 30-11, 34-32, and 30-22.
Temple (21-5, 11-0 A-10) was led by junior outside hitter Xu Yun with 18 kills and 17 digs. Outside hitter Yamit Haba also scored in double figures with 13 kills and 14 digs while Liu Shu contributed 15 kills and 20 digs. Setter Alison Runk had 44 assists.
Junior co-captain Sarah Hokom (Caldwell, ID/Caldwell) paced the Colonials with 14 kills and 11 digs while Katie Downey (Caldwell, ID/Caldwell) posted 11 kills and five digs. Setter Lauren Dunning (Stockton, CA/St. Mary's) tallied 36 assists.
Freshman Shannon Parks (Marietta, GA/George Walton) had an errorless hitting night with nine kills, no errors in 18 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage.
Temple, which has won the last nine meetings between the teams, also defeated GW in four games in Washington on Oct. 5.
GW (15-11, 6-5 A-10) remains in Philadelphia to play La Salle in a 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
