GW Volleyball Falls to Dayton, 3-0

DAYTON, OH - The George Washington volleyball team lost to Dayton 3-0 (22-30, 13-30, 18-30) Saturday at UD's Frericks Center. It marked the Flyers' 10th win in their last 11 matches clinched a spot in the conference tournament. It was GW's second straight loss on the two-match road trip to Ohio after losing at Xavier Friday.

GW took a four-point lead in game one but Dayton battled back to tie it at 11-11. After a GW error the Flyers took a 12-11 lead and never looked back. In game two the Flyers held the Colonials to only six kills and a team hitting percentage of -.257, while the Flyers recorded 12 kills and team hitting percentage of .292. With only three errors in game three, the Flyers again dominated defensively, holding GW to a .000 team hitting percentage. The Flyers maintained the lead throughout GW never got closer than two points.

GW was led by seniors Sarah Hokom with 10 kills and Ruth Lazzari's 13 digs.

Dayton (21-8, 10-1 A-10) was led by senior Erin Treadway's 13 kills and recorded 10 digs. Senior Carrie Snider had a team-high 19 digs.

GW (19-8, 7-5 A-10) will look for win number 20 Tuesday when its hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore in a 7:00 p.m. match at Smith Center.
