Volleyball Falls in A-10 Semifinals to Dayton

PITTSBURGH - The GW volleyball team, fresh of an historic upset in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 Championship, saw its season come to an end in the semifinals in a 3-0 loss to Dayton on Friday evening at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

    Set 1: Dayton 25, GW 7

  • Eight attack errors plagued the Colonials as Dayton swung .385 (13k-3e-26a) in a first set victory.

    Set 2: Dayton 25, GW 15

  • The Flyers started the second set on an 8-2 run.
  • GW was able to cut the deficit down to four points when it made the score 13-9 on an attack error.
  • Dayton responded with an 8-2 run before winning the set by a final count of 25-15.


    Set 3: Dayton 25, GW 17

  • GW grabbed an early 3-1 lead to open the third set.
  • Dayton responded with six straight points to begin a 7-2 run to take an 8-5 lead.
  • Clark put down three consecutive kills to knot the score at 8-8.
  • Dayton briefly pulled ahead, 10-8, but GW answered to take an 11-10 lead on kills by Iott and Moor.
  • The Flyers scored four straight points to regain the lead they would not relinquish en route to the 25-17 win.
