GW Volleyball Launches Youth Volleyball Camp

Camp Information & Registration

WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball program will host a Youth Volleyball Camp this summer at the Charles E. Smith Center. The two-day camp will run on June 16 and June 17.

The camp is for rising seventh graders through rising 12th graders and will cover all general skills while also demonstrating team defense and serve, along with positional breakdown opportunities.

"By adding a youth summer camp, we are continuing to connect and work with volleyball athletes from our area," said head coach Sarah Bernson. "The George Washington Adult Clinics have been a wonderful way to get to know the adult players and be part of the larger volleyball community of the DMV. Incorporating a youth camp is the next step in providing a forum for the younger athletes to train and improve their game."

All campers will receive instruction from the GW Volleyball staff - Bernson, Associate Head Coach Nicki Holmes and assistant coach Nicole Buchholz - who have over 30 years of combined coaching experience in collegiate volleyball.

"I believe that summer camp is the best way to get better at the game," said Buchholz. "Hearing new ways of explaining skills you've been practicing for years really helps you solidify your understanding of how to perform it. Camp also helps you study the game in a different way when you play with people you are not as familiar or comfortable with. We are aiming to make GW Youth Camp challenging but also rewarding and fun."

The GW Volleyball program is hoping to announce at least one more youth camp date at a remote location in July. Be sure to stay tuned for future dates.
