WASHINGTON, DC -- The 2005 George Washington Volleyball team kicked off its first spring season competition by winning four of five matches at Loyola College last Saturday.

Since January, the women's volleyball program has been working hard in its spring/pre-season. The Colonials have taken part in individual workouts, lifting and conditioning sessions all leading up to the start of team practices in late February. The Colonials finally had an opportunity to showcase their hard work and talents going 8-2 in their first 10 spring games.

GW def. Loyola College (25-10, 25-19)
GW def. Delaware State (25-18, 25-23)
GW def. Navy (25-15, 25-20)
Villanova def. GW (25-17, 25-20)
GW def. La Salle (25-21, 25-20)

The GW Volleyball program will host its annual spring tournament this Saturday, April 1st at the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. Participating teams include Maryland, Loyola College, Georgetown, James Madison as well as the host Colonials. The tournament takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
