WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball program opened its preseason practice schedule with two practices on Wednesday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Colonials will practice twice a day over the next three weeks before opening the 2012 season at the Purdue Invitational with matches against two teams - Northern Iowa and the host Boilermakers - that concluded the 2011 season in the Top 25 of the AVCA Coaches Poll. Read more about the Colonials' 2012 schedule here. "I think our first session went really well," said head coach Amanda Ault. "We are doing some good things and certainly have a long way to go, but it was nice to get in here and shake the cobwebs off and start practicing. We need to push ourselves now in order to prepare for a tough opening weekend at the Purdue Invitational, as well as a very competitive Atlantic 10 schedule." GW returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from a team that finished 20-10 overall in 2011 and returned to the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2009. The Colonials also welcome a heralded recruiting class, the first under second-year head coach Amanda Ault.
