Volleyball Heads West for Weekend in North Dakota

LEADING OFF: The GW volleyball team heads west for its second road trip of the season and will play a quartet of matches over two days in North Dakota when it participates in the UND Classic (Friday in Grand Forks) and the NDSU Invitational (Saturday in Fargo).

THE OPPONENTS: GW will face North Dakota (1-0 all-time) and South Dakota State (first meeting) on Friday in Grand Forks as part of the UND Classic before making the short trip to Fargo on Saturday for the NDSU Invitational against North Dakota State (first meeting) and Appalachian State (0-1 all-time).

FAUNTLEROY ON FIRE: Freshman Callie Fauntleroy had a near-perfect offensive weekend across three matches at the GW Invite last weekend. The rookie middle blocker committed just one attack error in 56 swings (.464) en route to 27 total kills. She also totaled 19.0 total blocks over the course of the weekend, highlighted by her first collegiate double-double of 14 kills and 10 blocks against LIU Brooklyn.

Entering the weekend, Fauntleroy ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with a .417 attack percentage and has committed just six attack errors on the season. She also ranks fifth overall with 28.0 total blocks and fourth with 1.27 rejections per set.

BLOCK PARTY: GW is the fourth-ranked blocking team in the conference, averaging 2.06 rejections per set, and has outblocked the opposition in four of six matches this season.

BALANCED ATTACK: The Colonials' offense features five players that have recorded at least 25 kills over the first six matches of the season, including a trio of players that have eclipsed 40 kills on the season.

Additionally, four players have led the team in kills in a match this season, led by the duo sophomore Skylar Iott and junior Kelsey Clark with two matches apiece.
