WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Sarah Hokom (Caldwell, ID/Caldwell) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for volleyball, the league office has announced. Hokom is coming off an MVP performance at last weekend's GW Volleyball Invitational, her second straight all-tournament selection in as many tournaments this season.

A senior co-captain, Hokom has been instrumental in GW's fast start this season. The 2002 Verizon Academic All-District II selection was named to the All-Tournament team at George Mason University's Patriot Invitational Aug. 30 and was voted the GW Invitational MVP by the participating coaches. She also was selected to the 2002 GW Invitational All-Tournament team.

Hokom's statistics for the week: three matches, eight games, 21 kills and six hitting errors in 44 attempts for a .341 hitting percentage, five assists, seven service aces, 38 digs (4.75 dpg) and seven block assists. She posted a double-double (double figure kills, digs) with 11 kills and 20 digs in the Villanova match.

Hokom leads the Colonials in service aces with 11, blocks with 14 and is second on the team in kills with 50, and digs with 69.

The Colonials (6-0, 18-3 games record) travel to New Brunswick, NJ, to face St. Peter's, Delaware and Rutgers in the Rutgers Invitational Friday-Saturday at Rutgers' College Avenue Gym.
