GW Volleyball's Chidima Osuchukwu Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week
Freshman Middle Blocker Excelled on Both Offense and Defense

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington freshman middle blocker Chidima Osuchukwu has been named the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It marks the first A-10 weekly honor of her career.
Osuchukwu hit .361 with 28 kills and just six attack errors during GW's four-match week. She was also active on the block, totaling 17.0 blocks with seven solo rejections. Her best match of the week was against James Madison during which she posted 11 kills and nine blocks (two solo, one assist).
The Virginia Beach, Va., native currently leads the Atlantic 10 with a .353 attack percentage (minimum 3.0 attempts/set) and has totaled 64 kills against 15 errors on 139 attempts in 37 sets of action. She also ranks ninth in the conference with 1.08 blocks per set and has posted 40.0 total rejections this season.
GW (4-6) returns to action this weekend at the NIU Invitational in DeKalb, Ill. The Colonials will face Western Illinois (Fri., 11 a.m. ET) , Northern Illinois (3 p.m. ET) and IPFW (Sat., 1 p.m. ET) during the two-day event.
