Volleyball Opens A-10 Schedule with Pennsylvania Road Trip
Colonials will visit La Salle on Friday (7 p.m.) before a Sunday matinee at Duquesne (1 p.m.)
LEADING OFF: The GW volleyball team will commence its Atlantic 10 schedule with a weekend road trip through Pennsylvania. The Colonials visit La Salle on Friday night (7 p.m.) in Philadelphia before making the cross-state trip to Pittsburgh for a Sunday matinee against Duquesne (1 p.m.).
LAST TIME OUT: GW saw its four-match homestand come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday night.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: This weekend's matches are the first and second of an extended seven-match road swing that will see the Colonials travel through Pennsylvania (this weekend), Rhode Island and Fordham (next weekend) and a trio of local road matches at Howard (Oct. 3), George Mason (Oct. 16) and American (Oct. 11).
CLARK'S CENTURY MARK: Junior Kelsey Clark totaled a team-high 10 kills on Tuesday to bring her season total to 107. She is the first Colonial to break the 100-kill threshold this season and has now accomplished the feat in each of her first three seasons at GW.
The Chicago native totaled 159 kills as a sophomore and 288 as a freshman when she was named the A-10 Co-Rookie of the Year.
BALANCED ATTACK CONTINUES: Led by Clark's team-best 107 kills, the Colonials' attack still features the element of surprise. Five players have totaled 75 kills or more at this point in the season.
Senior Aaliya Davidson paces the team with five matches as the leader or co-leader in kills while Clark and sophomore Jordan Young have led the team in four matches apiece. In total, seven different players have led the team in kills in a match.
SERIES RUNDOWN: GW leads the all-time series against La Salle, 36-2, and has won the last 13 meetings in a row dating back to 2007. The Colonials won last year's meeting, 3-0, at the Smith Center.
The Colonials also lead the all-time series with Duquesne by a 36-15 margin. GW has won two of the last three meetings but fell in five sets to the Dukes last season at the Smith Center.
