Volleyball's Sarah Hokom Named A-10 Co-Player of the Week
Oct. 6, 2003 WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Sarah Hokom (Caldwell, ID/Caldwell) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week for volleyball, the league office has announced. It marks the third time this season the Conference has honored the outside hitter from Idaho. She shares this week's honor with Dayton's Erin Treadway. A senior co-captain, Hokom slammed a season-high 23 kills in GW's come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Rhode Island Saturday night at Smith Center. She also had a team-high 19 kills in GW's 3-0 sweep of Fordham Friday. Hokom has been voted the MVP of two tournaments this season and named to the All-Tournament team in two others. Hokom's statistics for the week: two matches, eight games, 42 kills (5.25 kpg) and 15 hitting errors in 91 attempts for a .297 hitting percentage, six assists, three service aces, 21 digs (2.62 dpg) and five block assists. Hokom leads the team in kills with 197, blocking with 39 total blocks and is second on the team service aces (22) and digs (170).
GW, off to it's fastest start in the 28-year history of the program at 14-2 (3-0 A-10), hosts Dayton Friday and Xavier Saturday in key A-10 matches. Both matches are at 7 p.m. in Smith Center.
