Goss Earns Rookie Honors for Second Straight Week
Oct. 12, 2010
NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- George Washington freshman Rachael Goss was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. It marks the second straight week that Goss has been recognized, after earning co-Rookie of the Week honors last week.
Goss's efforts helped the Colonials to a pair of road victories last weekend at Rhode Island on Friday and Saturday at Fordham, both in five sets.
In the Colonials' 3-2 victory over Fordham Oct. 9, Goss slammed 12 kills in 34 attacks for a .235 hitting percentage and added six digs for 12.5 points. Goss has appeared in 74 of GW's 85 sets this season and her 150.5 points and 137 kills ranks third on the team and tops among the Colonials' freshmen.
Goss's stats for the week: two matches, 10 sets, 23 kills in 66 attempts with nine errors for a .212 attack percentage, 8 digs, two service aces and a block assist for 25.5 total points.
Goss and the rest of the Colonials (15-7, 4-1 A-10) next host La Salle (4-17, 0-5 A-10) Thursday in a 7 p.m. match at Smith Center.
