NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- GW junior Leah Hill (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It marks the first A-10 weekly award for Hill this season.

The 5-9 outside hitter led the Colonials with 5.33 digs per set and also blocked a pair of shots as GW posted a 1-1 week. Hill had 32 digs and added 15 kills in six sets. The team's co-captain, Hill is second on the Colonials in digs with a total of 301 for a 3.42 digs-per-set average.

Hill's stats for the week: two matches, 6 sets, 32 digs (5.33 digs per set), 15 kills, .149 hitting pct., three assists and two block solos for 17 points.

GW (19-9, 6-5 A-10) returns to Smith Center Friday to host Duquesne (14-12, 4-7 A-10) at 7 p.m. followed by the final home match of the season Sunday when Charlotte visits for a 1 p.m. matinee. Both matches will be available on www.GWsports.com GameTracker and live video webstreaming.
