GW's Wright Named to 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Volleyball Second Team

Nov. 8, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC -- GW junior Maggie Wright has joined eight others on the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II University Division Volleyball Team as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The District II University Division consists of all NCAA Division I college and universities in Delaware, The District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and starter or significant reserve for her team.

A native of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Wright is the Colonials' starting libero and maintains a 3.95 GPA as a Pre-Health Professional major. Her 297 digs are third-most on the team and her 3.95 GPA, which includes a 4.0 GPA for the Fall '05 semester, also leads the squad. She has appeared in 96 of GW's 108 games this season and has 50 assists and 22 service aces. Wright has recorded double-figure digs in 14 of GW's 27 matches in 2007. In March, she joined teammates Jess Buche and Liz Moult in an Alternative Spring Break to New Orleans where she helped rebuild houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina in the city's upper 9th Ward as part of the Habitat for Humanity effort.

The Colonials (12-16, 4-8 A-10) host Charlotte Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the final match of the regular season.
