GW Volleyball's Lauren Whyte Voted CoSIDA Academic All-District
Senior Outside Hitter Earns Honor for Second Straight Season

WASHINGTON - Senior Lauren Whyte has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for the second year in a row, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Monday evening.
Whyte has maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.74 during her career while majoring in mathematics. She is a two-time member of the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team and has appeared on both the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the GW Department of Athletics and Recreation Academic Dean's List in five semesters.
First Team Academic All-District volleyball honorees now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Whyte has totaled 1,610 kills in her career, which ranks her second in GW history behind only Svetlana Vtyurnia, the NCAA career kills leader and arguably one of the best players in the history of women's collegiate volleyball. Whyte has totaled double-digit kills in 85 matches during her career while posting 39 career double-doubles. This season she has also posted career highs in attempts, block assists and digs.
Whyte currently leads GW and ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 averaging 3.94 kills per set and has totaled 382 kills this season.
GW concludes the regular season on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. with a visit to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face Duquesne. The Colonials defeated the Dukes, 3-1, on October 5 at the Charles E. Smith Center. GW can clinch a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship with a victory on Saturday.
