NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington volleyball seniors Lauren Whyte and Candace Silva-Martin were each named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team while Whyte was selected to the Second Team All-Conference, the league office announced on Thursday. The All-Conference nod marks the fourth postseason All-Conference honor of Whyte's career following a First-Team selection as a junior, Second-Team selection as a sophomore and All-Rookie selection as a freshman. Thursday also marks the second time in her career Whyte has been named to the A-10's Academic All-Conference team. Whyte concluded her career with her 1,625 career kills, which ranks second all-time at GW behind NCAA career kills leader Svetlana Vtyurina '95 (3,043). Silva-Martin earned her second career postseason honor after an All-Rookie selection as a freshman. The Fremont, Calif., native concludes her career as the Atlantic 10's all-time career digs leader with 2,126. She is just one of four players in conference history to eclipse the 2,000 dig mark and is GW's all-time leader while holding the top three positions on GW's single-season digs list.
