Volleyball's Hokom Named to 2003 AVCA Northeast All-Region Volleyball Team
Dec. 11, 2003 WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Sarah Hokom (Caldwell, ID) has been named to the 12-member 2003 AVCA All-Region Volleyball team for the Northeast Region as selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. It is Hokom's second prestigious honor this week after her selection to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team Dec. 8. Hokom, who maintains a 3.71 GPA as a double major in biology and biological anthropology, led the Colonials in kills with 392 (3.63 kpg) and blocks with 65 (62 assisted, three solo) and is second on the team in digs with 360 (3.33 dpg). She recorded 19 double-doubles (double-figure kills and digs) in 32 matches this season. A co-captain, Hokom ranks third on GW's all-time career kills list with 1,151 and eighth on the career digs list with 1,072. She is a three-time Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week this season and was selected to the All-Tournament teams in each of the five tournaments in which GW competed this season. She also is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District II team selection and a two-time All-Conference selection.
The Colonials (21-11, 8-6 A-10) lost to No. 2 seed Dayton in the first round of the A-10 Tournament Nov. 21 at Temple University.
