Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 18 Princeton, Colorado State

Feb. 12, 2011
PRINCETON, NJ - The George Washington women's water polo team played No. 18 Princeton tough in a season-opening 9-4 loss to the Tigers and dropped a one-sided 16-7 decision to the Colorado State Rams on the first day of the Princeton Invitational Saturday.
GW erased a 3-1 halftime deficit to pull even with Princeton at 3-3 with 4:32 left in the third quarter, but the host Tigers netted the next three goals and outscored the Colonials, 6-1, the rest of the way. GW could have played Princeton closer, but failed to convert on any of its seven power-play opportunities.
In Saturday's second contest, Colorado State scored five goals in each of the first two quarters and GW couldn't dig out of the early hole in the 16-7 loss.
GW (0-2) will play nationally ranked No. 19 Pacific at 10:30 am and Villanova at 2:45 pm on the final day of the Invite in Princeton on Sunday.
