PRINCETON, NJ - Junior Monica Hanson scored five goals and freshman Rachael Bentley added a hat trick as the George Washington women's water polo team picked up its first victory of 2011 with a 15-7 triumph over Villanova in the final game of the Princeton Invitational Sunday.

GW trailed nationally ranked Pacific just 1-0 after a quarter, but the Tigers netted four unanswered goals en route to outscoring the Colonials, 8-2, in the second period to build a 9-2 halftime lead. The Colonials converted just 1-of-6 power-play chances and 6-of-28 shot attempts to negate senior Charlotte Schou's 10 saves in goal.

Hanson and Bentley combined for eight goals and junior Megan Walker added two to help GW to a 15-7 win over Villanova in Saturday's late game. The Colonials scored the first four goals of the game, led 7-2 at halftime and 11-5 after three quarters in cruising past the Wildcats.

Schou totaled four saves, including a penalty block, and junior Antonia Raris made two stops to pace GW's defense.

GW (1-3) returns to action against CWPA South rival Bucknell in College Park, MD, Saturday at 11:00 am.
