PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman Jaleh Moaddeli scored four goals, including the go-ahead tally in the second overtime, to help George Washington women's water polo hold off Iona, 14-12, on Friday night at DeNunzio Pool to begin the Princeton Invitational.

GW (4-1) found a way to win a back-and-forth game by scoring the final two goals in overtime. Moaddeli's score made it 13-12 with 1:54 left in the second extra frame and Scarlett Hallahan followed with her only goal about a minute later to provide some breathing room.

Newcomers continue to make a difference for the Colonials in the early going. Moaddeli paced the offense against Iona (2-9) with fellow freshman Grace Heck adding three goals and two assists.

Fresh off being named CWPA Player of the Week, freshman Alana Ponce chipped in three goals, plus a team-high five steals.

UP NEXT: GW faces a pair of ranked foes Sunday, starting with No. 22 Princeton in its home pool at 11:45 a.m. Then, the Colonials meet No. 25 Marist at 6 p.m.
