GW Women's Water Polo Drops Home Opener to No. 12 Princeton, 15-3
Colonials Head West for Annual California Trip Next Week

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's water polo team fell to 12th-ranked Princeton, 15-3, in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division action on Friday evening at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.
Princeton (12-2, 2-0 Southern) scored the first six goals of the game before freshman Caroline Sandri put GW (8-7, 2-2 Southern) on the board for the first time with 5:08 remaining in the second quarter. The Tigers led, 9-1, at halftime.
Freshman Hannah Cox scored the first goal of the third quarter 1:14 into action. After Princeton scored twice more to make it 11-2, junior Katherine Berry tallied the Colonials' final goal of the game on a penalty shot with 1:30 remaining in the period. The Tigers then scored four straight to end the game for the 15-3 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Chandler Vilander recorded three saves for GW.
Ashley Hatcher led Princeton with four goals, while Molly McBee and Katie Rigler each had three. Ashleigh Johnson made nine saves for the Tigers.
The Colonials embark on their annual California trip next week, as they will play seven games in the span of four days beginning with Whittier on Wednesday evening.
