Peotter Propels Women's Water Polo Past D-III No. 8 Whittier

WHITTIER, CA - Freshman Allison Peotter had three goals and two assists as part of a strong all-around performance to lead the George Washington women's water polo team to a 10-8 victory over CWPA Division III No. 8 Whittier Wednesday afternoon.

Peotter added five steals, four swim-offs and a field block to her five points to help GW (3-12) snap a seven-game losing streak. Senior Amy Moren added two goals and junior Tara Sullivan posted four steals and a goal.

Senior Luciana Maggiolo, juniors Marissa Stamler and Sarah Fitch and sophomore Melissa Sesana also netted goals, while sophomore Charlotte Schou (six saves) and freshman Antonia Raris (three) combined for nine saves.

The Colonials jumped out to a 2-0 lead after eight minutes and extended their lead in each of the next two quarters - 6-2 heading into intermission and 9-4 through three quarters - before hanging on for the 10-8 victory.

GW visits D-III No. 2 Occidental Thursday at 5:00 pm PT.
