ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The GW women’s water polo team completed four games in Collegiate Water Polo Association play over the weekend at Hartwick College, falling to host Hartwick, Harvard, Indiana and Brown.

The Colonials (13-14, 1-6 CWPA) opened the weekend vs. Hartwick and were dealt a 23-12 defeat, as the offensive firepower of the Hawks proved to be too much. Scarlett Hallahan led GW with four goals and Jacqueline Bywater added three goals and three assists to lead GW.

In Saturday’s match with Harvard, Bywater paced the Colonials with five goals and six steals but it wasn’t enough as the Crimson came out with a 15-8 victory. Ally Jochim added two goals and Samanthan Runyon had eight saves in the cage.

Against IU on Sunday, the Colonials used a 5-3 advantage in the second quarter to pull within one of the Hoosiers, 8-7, at halftime. Bywater scored the first and last goals of the period as GW closed on a 3-0 run, with Maddy Johnson, Jochim and Hallahan providing goals in between. However, Indiana would go on to control the second half, limiting GW to four goals while capitalizing for eight of its own to take a 16-11 victory.

In the final game of the weekend, GW fell 12-6 to Brown. Bywater, Johnson and Kira Bruno scored two goals apiece, and Runyon came up with seven saves, as the Bears won each of the first three quarters to control the match.

The Colonials return to play Thursday with a non-conference tilt at Villanova, before closing the regular season with a league game at Princeton on Friday.
