WASHINGTON, DC - No. 13 Indiana's six-goal third quarter proved to be the difference as the George Washington women's water polo team's Senior Day was spoiled by the visiting Hoosiers, 13-8, at Charles E. Smith Center Pool on Sunday afternoon.

GW (6-17) led throughout much of the first half thanks to junior Megan Walker's three goals, but IU closed the second quarter with consecutive goals to take a 6-5 lead into intermission.

The Hoosiers, who improved to 22-11 with the victory, put the game away with a dominant third period. 2010 All-American Jakie Köhli and Shae Fournier both scored twice to spark the visitors to six unanswered goals in the quarter, an 8-0 run, and a 12-5 advantage after 24 minutes of play.

Junior Monica Hanson cut the deficit to 12-6 with 3:04 left, but Fournier capped her four-goal day with her second 5-meter penalty goal 20 seconds later to re-open a seven-goal lead.

Walker completed her four-goal effort 10 seconds later to make it 13-7 and junior Allison Peotter capped her hat trick with an outlet goal from senior Charlotte Schou with 20 seconds remaining for the 13-8 final margin.

Walker finished with four goals, four ejections drawn and a penalty drawn, which she converted in the first quarter.

Schou, who became GW's career saves leader on Friday, made 12 saves for her fifth straight game with double-digit saves and added a team-high four steals and an assist. Schou and classmates Erin Delker and Melissa Sesana were honored prior to their final game at Smith Center Pool. Delker finished with an assist, steal and ejection drawn, while Sesana provided an ejection drawn and field block.

GW finishes the regular season at 6-17 overall, 0-4 in CWPA Southern Division action and 3-9 against CWPA competition. The Colonials now await their seeding for the 11-team CWPA Eastern Championship, to be held at Indiana's Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center April 29-May 1.
