BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The GW women’s water polo team saw its season come to a close with a pair of losses to Indiana and Brown on Saturday at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Championship.

Indiana 9, GW 7

Scarlett Hallahan scored four goals and added two assists and GW held a 5-3 lead over Indiana at halftime, but the Hoosiers controlled the second half to take a 9-7 victory on Saturday morning.

Hallahan tallied two of her goals in the first half, while Maggie Ball, Ally Jochim and Erin McGeoy accounted for three more as the Colonials led for the first two quarters. The third quarter was the decisive one, however, as Indiana used four unanswered goals to assume a 7-5 lead heading into the fourth.

IU would tack on two more goals in the fourth to extend its lead to 9-5 before Hallahan answered with scores at the 3:58 and 2:41 marks, but that was as close as GW would get.

Brown 11, GW 6

Hallahan again led the Colonials with a three-goal performance, while Jochim, Jacqueline Bywter and Maddy Johnson chipped in one apiece.

The teams traded goals throughout the first period, with Hallahan’s strike with 46 seconds remaining putting GW on top for the first time, 4-3. Brown, however, answered with four straight goals in the second quarter and took a 7-4 advantage into halftime.

In the third quarter, goals from Johson and Bywater got the Colonials within one, 7-6, but GW couldn’t equalize the game as Brown went on another 4-0 run to end the game.
