Washington, DC - The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) released the Eastern Championship schedule today, which matches George Washington's women's water polo team up against No. 17 Hartwick College.
GW joins a field of talented programs at the championships, including No. 14 Princeton, No. 15 Michigan, No. 17 Hartwick, No. 18 Indiana and No. 20 Brown. Harvard rounds out the field and is the only other unranked team to qualify for the championship besides the Colonials. The winner of the Eastern Championships will receive an automatic bid to the 2001 Women's Water Polo NCAA Championship from May 12-13 at Stanford University.
GW will play the Hawks at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 28. The Colonials faced Hartwick earlier this season at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on March 31, losing 11-4.
Hartwick's women's water polo team is in their first season as a varsity sport, enjoying phenomenal success, finishing undefeated in the New York Region and first overall in the Northern Division final standings.
The Colonials remaining schedule for the Eastern Championships will be determined by the results of the first set of matches on Saturday.
