BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington women's water polo freshman attack Meagan Moreland was named Southern Division Rookie of the Week, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced on Tuesday.

Making her collegiate debut, Moreland tallied seven points to help GW post a 2-1 mark during its opening weekend at the Princeton Invitational Feb. 11-12. She scored four goals in five attempts and added three assists, five steals and two sprints won.

The La Jolla, Calif., native scored her first collegiate goal and tallied three steals in the Colonials' 15-7 win over Villanova in their opener on Saturday, then recorded five points on two goals and three assists later that day in a 10-9 win over Brown - the first victory over the Bears in program history. Moreland also added a goal against Bucknell on Sunday.

Moreland and the Colonials return to action Feb. 25-26 at the CWPA vs. MAAC Weekend in Princeton, N.J., with contests against Villanova, Siena, Wagner and Iona.
