Colonials Prep for Maryland Invitational

Feb. 24, 2005

WASHINGTON, DC - The GW women's water polo squad (3-5) will compete three times at the Maryland Invitational, held on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26 in College Park, MD. The Colonials will play an exhibition match versus the Navy Aquatic Club on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and they are slated for another exhibition contest against the Maryland "B" group at 3:00 on Saturday. GW will wrap up the weekend with a game versus Salem International at 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

The Colonials are ranked eighth in this week's CWPA Top 10 poll. Sophomore Jenna Burnett is the team's leading scorer, and she is tied for 10th in the nation with 17 goals. Classmate Morgan Hooker is second on the team with 11 tallies.

Junior Amy Heinemann, who owns the GW career record for saves, has made 49 stops in the cage this season, the 11th-highest total in Division I.

The Terrapins are 3-5 this year and split their four matches at last week's Bucknell Invitational.
