
WASHINGTON, DC (April 9, 2002) - The George Washington women's water polo team will travel to Villanova University in Villanova, PA from April 19-21, to compete as the fourth seed in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division Championships.
The Colonials (14-5, 7-2) finished second in the Mid Atlantic Region of the Southern Division to claim the fourth seed in the championship. GW will face fifth seed Bucknell University on Friday, April 19, in a 9:30 p.m. first-round match. The Colonials will return to action on Saturday, April 20, in a 9:40 a.m. game versus Grove City College, the ninth seed.
In the second round of competition, teams take on new designations, dependent upon their record within their brackets. All advancement is determined by won/loss records. Teams tied in wins use goal differentials with common opponents to determine who advances.
The four top finishers in the championship advance to compete in the Eastern Championships in Princeton, NJ from April 26-28.
