Women's Water Polo Secures Eighth Seed in Eastern Championships

WASHINGTON, DC (April 23, 2002) - The Collegiate Water Polo Association released the schedule for the Eastern Championships that will be held in Princeton, NJ, from Friday, April 26 - Sunday, April 28, selecting George Washington as the eighth seed.

The Colonials, (16-7, 7-2), who have posted their best record in their three-year history, are scheduled to face top seed Michigan in a first-round match on Friday, April 26, at 2:10 p.m.

GW will take on Villanova in the second day of competition on Saturday, April 27, in a 2:20 p.m. match. In their two regular season meetings, the Colonials topped the Wildcats 10-5 and 12-8.

In the second round of competition, the teams will be reseeded dependent on their performance within their brackets in the first round. Second round seeding is determined by first-round records, with teams with identical records being seeded dependent on goal differentials with common opponents.
