GW Earns At-Large Bid to Eastern Championship

BRIDGEPORT, PA - The GW women's water polo team received one of two at-large berths in the CWPA Eastern Championship, which will be held from April 30-May 1 in Bloomington, IN, the 2005 Eastern Championship Seeding Committee announced today. The Colonials are 13-14 overall this season and placed third in this past weekend's CWPA Southern Championship.

GW is seeded eighth in the eight-team field and will play the top seed, Indiana, in the opening match of tournament at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30. Michigan is the No. 2 seed, followed by Princeton, Hartwick, Harvard, Brown and Bucknell. The winner of the GW/Indiana contest will meet either Hartwick or Harvard at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.

The winner of the tournament will receive the CWPA's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which will take place in Ann Arbor, MI from May 13-15.

This is the sixth straight season GW has qualified for the Eastern Championship.
