Women's Water Polo's Peotter, Walker Garner CWPA All-South Honors
Peotter Named First Team for Third Straight Year, Walker Recognized on Second Team
April 28, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, IN - Junior attack Allison Peotter earned CWPA All-Southern Division First Team honors for the third straight season and junior center Megan Walker received a nod on the Second Team at the organization's CWPA Eastern Championship Hall of Fame Banquet Thursday evening.
Peotter is the only GW player to receive First Team honors three times during her career. The Newport Beach, CA, native earned a league-leading four CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week awards this season while pacing GW with 49 goals, 36 assists, 85 points, 47 steals and 71 swim-offs won through the regular season. Only a junior, Peotter already tops GW's career lists in assists, steals and swim-offs won, and is on pace to become the program's leader in goals and points in 2012.
Walker leads GW with 60 ejections drawn, trails only Peotter on the team with 40 goals and is third on the squad with 51 points and 18 steals. She was named CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week on April 13, and has climbed to third all-time in program history with 124 ejections drawn entering the Eastern Championship.
GW (6-17) earned the No. 8 seed and will face ninth-seeded Mercyhurst at 9:00 am Friday in the opening game of the Eastern Championship at Indiana's Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. The winner of the GW/Mercyhurst game moves on to face top-seeded and No. 6 Michigan, the three-time defending Eastern Champion, Friday at 4:30 pm, while the loser will face the loser of Harvard/Gannon Saturday at 6:40 pm. The event concludes on Sunday with placement games.
