WASHINGTON - Marissa Stamler was named the women's water polo team's Most Valuable Player at George Washington University's annual Senior Honors Luncheon on the GW campus Thursday.

Marissa had the best season of her four-year career in 2010, leading GW with 51 goals and 74 points to earn CWPA Southern Division All-Conference honors for the third consecutive year. Her 51 goals were the fourth-highest single-season total in program history and helped her earn the Southern Division Player of the Week award twice this season. Marissa ranks fourth all-time at GW in points and fifth in goals and assists. The international affairs major has also been named to the ACWPC Scholar-Athlete Team three times and is a two-time CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team selection.
