WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington men's golf senior Cole Turner, women's water polo senior Marissa Stamler and men's tennis junior Yan Levinski were named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District II First and Second Teams as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Turner will join 83 other first-team at-large recipients from eight districts on the national Academic All-America ballot. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. CoSIDA District II is comprised of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and the Academic At-Large program recognizes student-athletes from 25 NCAA-sponsored Olympic Sports.

The Colonials' co-captain and member of the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, Turner competed in 12 tournaments during the 2009-10 season. He led the team in scoring (75.0) and carded the team's lowest 36-hole score (141) this season. He placed sixth (of 60) at the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship with a seven-over-par 220. Turner tied the school record for low single-round score last October when he shot a 66 in the ODU Seascape tournament at Kitty Hawk, NC. His head-to-head W-L record was 628-176 (.781) this season and he placed among the top 10 in five tournaments and also had nine top-20 finishes. Turner has been a member of George Washington's Athletic Department Dean's List all eight semesters and graduated summa cum laude last Sunday.

An international affairs major, Stamler earned CWPA First Team All-Southern Division honors after leading GW and ranking in the Top 40 nationally with 51 goals and 74 points in 2010. She also earned Second Team All-South honors in 2008 and 2009, and finished her four-year career ranked fourth all-time at GW with 192 points and 5th with 139 goals and 68 assists. In the classroom, Stamler was named to the ACWPC Scholar-Athlete Team her first three years, the CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team in 2008 and 2009, as well as the GW's Athletic Department Dean's List six semesters.

Levinski, a finance major, was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team for the third straight season, along with a Second Team All-Conference nod in 2010. Levinski went 8-10 in spring singles action for the Colonials to improve his overall record to 32-25 in three years at GW. The 2008 A-10 Rookie of the Year and 2008 and 2009 First Team All-Conference pick has appeared on GW's Athletic Department Dean's List and the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll five semesters each.
