Eight Women's Water Polo Players Named to ACWPC All-Academic Team

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's water polo team placed eight players on the 2010 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
2010 graduate Marissa Stamler earned All-Academic Team distinction for the fourth consecutive year and outstanding status for the third straight year with a cumulative grade-point average between 3.71 and 4.0. Stamler, who was also named to CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District II Second Team in May, led GW and ranked in the Top 40 nationally in goals and points and earned First Team All-South honors from the CWPA in 2010.
Athletes were nominated by their coach/sports information director and were active participants on the team and a full-time student at the institution which nominated them. Further, each student-athlete achieved a 3.2 cumulative Grade Point Average or higher based on the most recent grades posted through the spring semester of the 2009-10 academic year.
