WASHINGTON - George Washington women's water polo head coach Scott Reed announced today that Jacqueline Bywater and Scarlett Hallahan have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Colonials in the 2014-15 academic year.

Bywater is a two-time USA Water Polo Academic All-American and First-Team All-League selection from Riverside Poly High School in Riverside Calif. - the same high school that produced GW seniors Rachael Bentley and Katherine Berry. A team captain and Scholar-Athlete, Bywater has been a member of the Junior Olympic Team for five years and finished in the top 10 all five times.

"Jackie has good speed, a great shot and a fantastic work ethic," said Coach Reed. "Her ability to step up in big games will be a tremendous asset to our program's success."

A left-handed attacker from La Jolla High School in La Jolla, Calif., Hallahan was named a Player to Watch by the San Diego Union Tribune in 2012 and 2013. Hallahan was selected to the All-CIF Western League second team in 2012 and to the Union Tribune All-Academic Team in 2013, and she has led La Jolla to three straight CIF Division III title games. Hallahan is also a member of the San Diego Shores club team, which won gold at the 2011 National Club Championship and the 2012 Junior Olympics.

"Scarlett is a strong all-around player who will be able to run the offense from the right side of the field for us next year," said Coach Reed. "She has a great water polo IQ and always works hard."
