EMMITSBURG, MD --
The George Washington University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams opened up both of their respective seasons Friday afternoon in the Mt. St Mary's 5K Duals on the campus of Mt. St. Mary's. Sophomore Andrew Zahornacky (Pleasantville, NY/Byram Hills) paced the men's team with a time of 17:18:01 on the men's side and true freshman Emily Foster (Brentwood, NH/Exeter) led the way on the women's side with a time of 21:17:93.

The match was raced in dual format so even though both teams only ran once, their scores were matched up against every other school competing to give each school five decisions.

The other six competing schools on the women's side were Navy, Maryland, American, Mt. St. Mary's, Temple, and UMBC. The men's side had five other schools at the meet, UMBC, American, Maryland, Temple and Mt. St. Mary's. The men finished 0-5, while the women finished 0-5-1.

The Colonials will now have two weeks to prepare for the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, MD. This meet will take place at 10:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, Sept. 13.
