GW Women's Cross Country Finishes in Second Place at Seagull Opener
Three Top-10 Finishes Pace Colonials

SALISBURY, Md. - The George Washington women's cross country team registered three top-10 finishes on the way to a second-place showing at the Seagull Opener on Saturday morning at Winter Place Park.
Conditions were very warm and humid on the 6,000-meter course.
Senior Heather Stevens turned in one of the finest performances of her career, finishing in a career-best third place out of 146 runners. The Hinsdale, Ill., native navigated the course in 22:35. Her time was just 14 seconds behind the top finisher.
Senior Juliana Stern, appearing in her first meet in over two years, turned in a fantastic performance as she notched a sixth-place finish in 23:03. She was followed less than a second later by freshman Caroline Wolfe in seventh place overall.
Senior Julia Weir took 14th place after finishing in 23:23 while freshman Katie Bishop followed in 24:14 to take 30th place. Sophomores Aubrey Gunnels (42nd, 24:33), Erica Halvorson (48th, 24:43) and Kathryn Luker (51st, 24:51) also contributed to the Colonials best team finish since a fourth-place showing at the 2009 Mount St. Mary's Duals.
The Colonials return to action on Sept. 15 at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
