GW Women's Cross Country Places 13th at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The GW women's cross country team concluded its final race ahead of the Atlantic 10 Championships, finishing in 13th place out of 28 teams at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday at the West Windsor Fields.

Senior Heather Stevens continued her impressive senior season by setting a new personal record in the 6,000-meter, finishing in 22:14. She placed 22nd-overall out of 219 runners as she beat her old record by 20 seconds.

Senior Julia Weir followed in 22:45 for 54th-place while Caroline Wolfe sustained her strong freshman campaign by finishing in 23:05 (76th). Senior Juliana Stern was close behind, finishing in 23:23 (98th)

Sophomores Katie Luker, Aubrey Gunnels and Erica Halvorson also set personal records on the afternoon. Luker finished in 23:38, 34 seconds of her previous best, for 123rd place. Gunnels shaved 43 seconds off of her record to take 146th-place in 24:05 and Halvorson finished in 24:33 (170th), a new best by 10 seconds.

Sophomore Katie Bishop finished ahead of Halvorson for 158th place (24:18).

The Colonials finished ahead of Lehigh, currently ranked 15th in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and Quinnapiac (15th, Northeast Region). The field contained a number of regionally and nationally-ranked teams.

GW returns to action on October 27 at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia, Pa..
