MINNEAPOLIS, MN- Former George Washington women's cross country standout and two-time NCAA All-American Megan Hogan has joined Team USA Minnesota and will make her professional road-racing debut on March 12 at the USA 15K Championships in Jacksonville, FL.
Team USA Minnesota is based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Formed in 2001, the purpose of the training center is to improve the competitiveness of post-collegiate American distance running and to develop Olympians.
"Megan has a very unique running background," said Team USA Minnesota Coach Dennis Barker. "Brian Beil did a great job coaching her at George Washington so she has a good foundation to build on. She also has the personal qualities necessary to be a top runner. She has been running such a short time that her best running is definitely ahead of her."
Hogan concluded her incredible career at GW with an eighth-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Championships. In 2010, she repeated as Atlantic 10 individual champion, A-10 women's cross country Performer of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year. She qualified for three straight NCAA Championships and boasts career-best times of 32:34.95 in the 10,000 meters and 16:09.54 in the 5,000 meters.
