Women's Track Runs at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. - Sophomore Madison Yerke set a new indoor program record in the 1000-meter run to lead the George Washington women's indoor track team at the Patriot Games at George Mason University on Saturday.

Yerke ran the 1000m in 2:57.88 (7th place) to break the previous record of 3:07.95, set by Caroline Wolfe at the Navy Multi-Mix Invitational last season. Also setting new personal records in the 1000m were sophomores Lauren Anderson (14th, 3:08.88 PR) and Lesley Fatica (16th, 3:19.65 PR).

Sophomore Halley Brown had a standout performance in the mile, taking second place overall out of 27 competitors in a new personal-record time of 5:03.68.

In the 3000m, freshman Gabriella Vlattas finished fourth overall with a new PR of 10:41.03, ahead of sophomore Rachel Gallivan (12th, 11:22.49 PR) and freshman Macy Evans (18th, 11:50.87 PR).

Two of GW's three competitors in the 800m set new personal records. Freshman Greta Goetz placed fourth overall in 2:22.30 and classmate Suzanne Dannheim placed sixth in 2:22.52.



GW will be idle next weekend before returning to action on Feb. 11 at Liberty Ellis Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia.
