GW Women's Track Runs Strong at Navy Multi-Mix

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Senior Caroline Wolfe set a new program record in the 1,000-meter run and six additional Colonials set new personal records as the George Washington women's indoor track team competed at the Navy Sweetheart Multi-Mix Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Wesley A. Brown Fieldhouse.

Wolfe's time of 3:07.95 in the 1000m shattered the previous program record by 32 seconds. She won the event to lead a trio of Colonials in the top five. Junior Ariana North was two hundredths of a second behind Wolfe in 3:07.97, while freshman Lauren Anderson took fourth place in 3:17.84.

The freshman pair of Taryn Millbourne and Kennedy Whittington-Cooper both set or tied a personal record in the 60-meter dash. Millbourne won her heat and finished 10th overall out of 28 competitors in 8.38, while Whittington-Cooper took 11th place in personal best-tying time of 8.39.

Freshman Abby Llanos won her heat in the 800-meter run, her first collegiate indoor race, with a time of 2:19.82 to take seventh place overall out of 24 competitors. Sophomore Malone Gabor also won her heat in 2:32.20 (21st overall), while freshman Cassidy Elkins set a new personal record in 2:32.40 (22nd).

All three of GW's competitors in the mile set a new personal record. Freshman Halley Brown finished in seventh place out of 21 competitors in 5:16.18. Junior Kirsten Zeller logged a time of 5:32.27 (14th), and junior Anna Zaccaria finished in 5:36.18 (15th).



The Colonials also had a strong showing in the 3,000-meter run. Freshman Brigid Prial finished second overall out of 14 competitors with a time of 10:43.74, while classmate Lesley Fatica took 11th in 11:18.69.

GW returns to action at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championships, Feb. 20-21, in Kingston, Rhode Island.
