FAIRFAX, Va. - Junior Miranda DiBiasio broke her own program record in a gold-medal performance in the 5,000-meter run to lead the George Washington women's indoor track team on day one of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championships at the George Mason Field House.

DiBiasio topped the field of 26 competitors with a time of 16:58.89, shattering her own program record by six seconds, to win the gold medal. It marks the first gold medal of her career in indoor track and also the second time she has earned All-Conference honors for the event.

DiBiasio is scheduled to double dip and go for gold again on Sunday in the 10,000-meter run, which she won at last year's A-10 Outdoor Championships.

Senior Ariana North also ran in the 5000m, finishing in 18:27.34 for 20th place.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Macaulay Porter, Madison Yerke, Suzanne Dannheim and Greta Groetz earned points towards GW's team total by placing eighth in a new program-record time of 12:19.37, setting a new record by over 30 seconds.

Goetz also set a new personal best in the 800-meter heats with a time of 2:19.28, but just narrowly missed qualifying for the finals.
