DiBiasio's 10K Record Leads Women's Track in Outdoor Debut

WASHINGTON - Junior Miranda DiBiasio opened the George Washington women's track team's outdoor slate on Friday night with a record-setting performance in the 10,000-meter run at the Raleigh Relays. The rest of the team followed with two new program-record performances on Saturday at the Navy Open in Annapolis, Maryland.
DiBiasio shattered her own record in the 10,000m to start things off on Friday night, finishing with a time of 34:55.50 to best her previous mark from last year's Atlantic 10 Championship (35:07.64). She placed 16th overall in an enormous field featuring the best distance runners in the nation.
The rest of the team was in action at Saturday's Navy Open at Ingram Field in Annapolis.
Sophomore Halley Brown set a new program record in the 800-meter run by seven seconds by placing third overall in 2:15.35. A pair of additional Colonials also competed in the event and set new personal records in freshman Suzanne Dannheim (2:21.37) and senior Kirsten Zeller (2:31.62).
In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Madison Yerke topped GW's best-ever performance in a new record time of 4:41.09, beating the previous mark by just over two seconds. The Colonials had three additional runners join Yerke (2nd) in the top-10 of the event as junior Lauren t'Kint (4th, 4:43.64), senior Macualay Porter (7th, 4:46.73) and sophomore Lesley Fatica (9th, 4:53.13) all set new personal records.
Senior Ariana North competed in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 7:35.57 to place fourth overall.
GW next competes at the three-day Colonial Relays at William & Mary, March 30-April 1.
