GW Women's Track Runs Strong at Hopkins/Loyola Invite
Brown Breaks 1500m Record; Colonials Post Multiple PRs
BALTIMORE - Freshman Halley Brown set a new program record in the 1,500-meter run and numerous other Colonials set new personal record in a successful showing at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday.
Brown's performance in the 1,500-meter run placed her 10th overall out of 56 competitors in a program-record time of 4:43.63. She bested the previous mark by six seconds to pace six Colonials in the event, each of which set a new personal record at the distance.
Freshman Madison Yerke finished in 4:51.64 (21st place) in her first outdoor appearance in the event. Also setting new personal bests were junior Macaulay Porter (4:52.11, 22nd), junior Kirsten Zeller (5:01.14) and freshman Kelli Stetson (5:08.61).
Junior Kirsten Nottingham tied her own program record in the 200-meter run when she finished in 27.19. She also appeared in the 400-meter run, finishing in 1:03.27 for 22nd place.
Freshman Abby Llanos followed up last weekend's program-record performance in the 800-meter run (2:24) with a solid showing, finishing in 2:26.43 to pace a pair of teammates. Both sophomore Malone Gabor (2:27.02) and freshman Lauren Anderson (2:27.83) posted new personal records at the distance.
Junior Ariana North posted the 10th-fastest time in the Atlantic 10 for the 5,000-meter run when she finished in fourth place overall in 17:44.07. It was her first career outdoor appearance in the event. Freshman Brigid Prial followed in a personal-best time of 18:29.67 for 11th place.
