DiBiasio Paces GW Women's Cross Country at Mount St. Mary's Duals

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Junior Miranda DiBiasio placed second overall out of 90 competitors to lead the George Washington women's cross country team to a 4-2 mark at the season-opening Mount St. Mary's Duals on Friday afternoon.

The Colonials earned victories over American, Mount St. Mary's, Franklin Pierce and UMBC while falling to Maryland and Navy.

DiBiasio completed the 5,000-meter course in 18:06.40 to pace the Colonials. The Berea, Ohio, native - who also finished in second place at last year's Duals - shaved 34 seconds off of her time from a year ago.

Freshman Gabriella Vlattas was GW's next harrier across the finish line, impressing in her collegiate debut by finishing in 13th place in 19:06.70. Senior Ariana North was right behind, taking 14th place with a time of 19:07.50.

Senior Macaulay Porter followed in 19:10.20 for 16th place, while sophomore Halley Brown finished in 21st place with a time of 19:28.80

The Colonials will return to action at the annual Salty Dog Invitational on Sept. 10, in Annapolis, Maryland.
