DiBiasio Paces GW Women's Cross Country at DCXC Invite
Sophomore Finishes Second to Lead Colonials to First Place at Home Meet
WASHINGTON - Sophomore Miranda DiBiasio finished in second place overall out of 28 competitors to pace six Colonials in the top-10 as the George Washington women's cross country team finished in first place in the team standings at the DCXC/GW Invitational at Kenilworth Park.
The Colonials totaled 44 points in the standings for first place while American finished second with 60 points. Howard took third place with 85 points.
DiBiasio equaled her 5,000-meter time from this year's season opener at the Mount St. Mary's Duals, navigating the course in 18:40.
Junior Macaulay Porter led five additional Colonial harriers in the top-10 with a time of 19:02 to clinch fourth place. She was followed by sophomore Lauren t'Kint de Roodenbeke (5th, 19:09), junior Ariana North (6th, 19:14), freshman Madison Yerke (7th, 19:30) and freshman Halley Brown (8th, 19:39).
Freshman Kelli Stetson rounded out GW's scorers with a 12th-place finish in 20:12.
North, Yerke and Stetson all improved on their 5K times from earlier this season.
Saturday's event marked the first home meet for the GW cross country programs since the 2005 season.
The Colonials return to action on Saturday, October 2 at the Paul Short Invitational in Lehigh, Pennsylvania.
