GW's men's and women's indoor track teams wrapped their respective indoor seasons over the weekend with appearances at a pair of Last Chance meets, hosted by George Mason and Boston University.
Only one Colonial competed at the BU Last Chance in Boston, Massachusetts. Senior Chris Shaffer set a new program record in the mile, his third time this season setting a new record in the event. Shaffer finished with a time of 4:07.64 on a very fast track with a loaded field. His performance bested teammate Colin Wills' time from last weekend's A-10 Championship (4:09.29) by two seconds.
At the Mason Last Chance, senior Frank Delavergne broke the record in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:08.18, besting his brother Ed's previous record of 1:08.32 from earlier this winter.
Meanwhile, Ed Delavergne became the first Colonial to ever compete in the long jump and lept a distance of 5.83 meters.
On the women's side, the Colonials swept the 3,000-meter run with solid performances by junior Halley Brown (1st, 10:11.75 PR), Lauren t'Kint de Roodenbeke (2nd, 10:12.66 PR) and junior Suzanne Danneheim (3rd, 10:22.11 PR).
