WASHINGTON - George Washington Indoor Track student-athletes Miranda DiBiasio and Chris Shaffer both earned spots on the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams, the conference announced on Wednesday.

The honor marks the second career appearances on an All-Academic Team for both student-athletes.

DiBiasio is coming off a gold-medal performance at the A-10 Indoor Championships. She won the 5,000-meter run in a new program-record time of 16:58.89 for her second career A-10 track championship. She also posted a new personal record in a sixth-place finish in the 3000-meter run at the A-10 Championships.

The junior boasts a cumulative grade-point average of 3.73 as an Exercise Science major and was recently named to the 2017 GW Athletics Department Dean's List.

Shaffer makes his second consecutive All-Academic Team appearance after he was honored for the 2017 Outdoor season. He maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.96 as a Systems Engineering major.

Last year he was a CoSIDA Academic All-District Selection and was honored as a recipient of an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from GW’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.

On the track this season, Shaffer set a new personal-record time in the 800-meter run (1:57.66) at the Terrapin Invitational and finished 18th in the mile at the A-10 Championships. He is also GW's outdoor track record holder in the 800m (1:57.45).
